On October 13, we had our first ever caucus meeting! We enjoyed seeing you all!

On October 15, in collaboration with ILHSD, we hosted Holly Kim, Lake County, Illinois Treasurer and Vice Chair of the Illinois Asian American Caucus.

Twelve days later, on the 27th, we co-hosted Derek Tran, now representative of California’s Congressional 45th district, in collaboration with CAHSD.

Leading up to the election, we hosted a phone banking session for Ashwin Ramaswami, making over 600 calls for Ramaswami in that one day.

In the last two weeks leading up to November 5, we co hosted the Georgia AANHPI Unity phone banking with the Harris-Walz campaign as well as the Young Democrats of Georgia, College Democrats of America, and the Democratic Party of Georgia’s AANHPI Caucuses.

We also worked to launch an in person Friday mobilization series with the Young Democrats of Georgia’s AANHPI Caucus for the last three Fridays before the election, having Georgia Representative Long Tran, House Minority Whip Sam Park, and Candidate Michelle Kang coming out to support us.

November

Our November member of the month is sophomore Kyle Chen, who is the current PoliticASIAN Features Editor. A fun fact about him is that his hear me out was the Triangle Guard from Squid Game!

On November 5, CDA and HSDA AANHPI, Black, Women, and Muslim Caucuses hosted an Election Watch Party.

On November 17, the caucus launched their state liaison program, which allows members of the caucus to represent their state and coordinate events with legislators statewide.

As of now, we have confirmed Achutan Raghushri as New Jersey state liaison, Imraan Mohammed as California liaison, and Eshan Korat as North Carolina liaison. Congratulations to all three of them!

On November 25th, we hosted an event with Rep. Tram Nguyen, the highest ranking Asian American woman in Massachusetts legislature.

December

Our December member of the month was sophomore Aditya Ambarisha. Hailing from Michigan, he is currently working on several fundraising initiatives for the caucus as well as on staff for the PoliticASIAN.

On December 22nd, we hosted Montgomery Township Mayor Neena Singh and Vice Mayor Vincent Barragan alongside the Latinx Caucus.

To end the year, we hosted an AANHPI Hear Me Out Cake event on December 31st, capping off the most active semester for the AAPI Caucus since its creation in 2019.

Current & Future Plans

We have several events in the pipeline, and hope to see you all there!
